If you have questions or concerns regarding this statement, you should first contact Survivify at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the mailing address at the end of this statement.
Your privacy and the protection of your personal information are important to us. Because we collect and/or store certain types of information from and about you, it is necessary to explain our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This policy discloses which information we collect and how we use it, as well as the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. In general, we collect several types of information from you:
- > Personal data required to create your account, such as your name and email address
- > Information about your visits to and use of this web site to help us maintain the appropriate features, functionality and user experience
Information We Collect From You and About You
We collect personal information from you while you use the site, and most of this collection occurs during registration. Additional information may be gathered during your subsequent use of the site, whenever and if you choose to provide it.
Certain personal information must be supplied during registration in order to (a) enable you to login to the site, (b) enable you to contribute content to the site, (c) enable you to create a public profile (d) to contact you if there is a problem with your account, and (e) to maintain regular communications with you as may be necessary. This basic personal information includes:
- > Your name
- > Your email address
This information will always remain private. We also collect additional biographical information that you might choose to provide, and this information is used to create your public profile on the site. This information may include your geographic location, favorite quotes, and other miscellaneous information that you may choose to share. This information can be edited, removed or made public/private at any time. We suggest that you not include your real name or email address in this publicly displayed content.
We also gather names and email addresses of people who contact us through our web site with questions about our company. We collect this information for the sole purpose of responding to such inquiries and do not store the contact information unless requested by these people, such as in the case of job applicants who submit resumes, or potential partners or vendors wishing to do business with us, etc.
Finally, we collect information about your computer and your visits to our web site, such as your IP address, geographical location, browser type, referral source, length of visit, and page views through the use of log files. We use this aggregated information in the administration of our web site to improve its usability and to evaluate the success of particular marketing/advertising campaigns, search engine optimization strategies and other marketing activities. We use non-identifying and aggregated information to help optimize our web site based on the needs of our users. No personal or personally identifiable information about any individual user is collected or will ever be distributed to third party organizations for any purpose, including marketing.
Information We Collect About Third Parties
If you choose to share content from our site with a friend, by sending an e-card or sending a survival kit, we will ask you for your friend's name and email address in order to process your request to share the information. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site in order to fulfill your request. Survivify stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the degree to which these content-sharing offerings are used.
Tell-a-Friend and Other User Referral Activities
Users may choose to refer friends to the site or directly to their survival kits via email. If this referral occurs independently of our site or a partner's site, we do not track the referral other than as a unique page view. Since we do not collect any information from the referring party or the recipient of the external email referencing our site, we do not capture or store any information about either party. If friends refer each other to our site or to their survival kits via a partner's site, we will store and track information about the referring and receiving parties only long enough to determine the effectiveness of our marketing activities which contributed to the referral.
Users may choose to electronically forward a link or page to a friend by clicking the "send to a friend" link. The users must provide their own names and email addresses as well as those of the intended recipients in order for the email to be sent. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors as well as to let the recipient know who sent the email so that it is not mistaken for spam. The information is not used for any other purpose and we do not store the names or email addresses of your friends. These are one-time-only emails initiated by friends of the recipients, and the recipients are not added to any mailing list or contacted by Survivify apart from this specific email.
Users can also refer friends to Survivify by completing a simple form to generate an email invitation. The information collected in this process is only kept long enough to monitor whether the referral program is achieving the desired results in terms of attracting new visitors to the site and converting them into members. Again, these are one-time-only messages initiated by friends of the recipients, and the recipients will not be added to any mailing list or contacted by Survivify apart from this specific email. In the case where a bonus is offered to a member in return for the referral, Survivify will only retain the information about the referred parties to properly credit the account of the member initiating the referral. The information is not used for any other purpose.
Communications From Our Site
When you register on our site you will receive emails that confirm specific actions you requested. You will receive notifications confirming your registration and the successful verification of email addresses. These are transactional notifications that you cannot opt out of receiving, as they are in place to protect the security of your personal information. We will also send you responses to any emails you send us. From time to time, we may also send user surveys or requests for user feedback regarding user experience and site operations. The completion of these surveys or requests for feedback is strictly voluntary. If you do not wish to participate in these efforts, you may opt out by writing to email@example.com.
How and When Your Information Is Shared With Other Parties
Information is shared with other parties in the following ways:
Optional information about members is displayed on public profiles that members can update at any time; certain information is optional and members can choose not to supply it and/or can remove the optional information at any time.
Authorship of certain content on the website is also visible to other users if a member chooses to have certain content attributed to himself/herself. Whenever a member creates content on the site, such as a survival kit or a contribution to an existing survival kit, there is an opportunity to attribute that content to the user or keep the authorship private.
Members can subscribe to other members' feeds. For privacy purposes, members are anonymous on the site and can be identified only by their chosen screen names. However, members may "follow" other members whose content they enjoy. At no time will the members be in a position to access personally identifiable information such as a member's real name or email address. The only information a member can access about another member is the publicly displayed profile that contains optional information supplied by the users themselves.
Survivify is not responsible for any personal or personally identifiable information that members may choose to include about themselves in their screen names, survival kits, contributions to survival kits, or public profiles, nor for any unsolicited emails that may come as a result of sharing such personally identifiable information.
